The Advanced Device and Materials Testing Laboratory (ADMATEL) is a DOST national testing laboratory equipped with advanced analytical equipment for failure analysis and materials characterization.

It is located at the DOST Complex in Bicutan, Taguig City in one of the renovated buildings of the Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI). This testing facility houses three class 100k clean room laboratories, dormitories (for grave yard shifts), and conference and lecture rooms for trainings/seminars.

The building was constructed based on the standards acceptable for a scientific laboratory to accommodate sophisticated equipment such as Focused Ion Beam – Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope, Auger Electron Spectroscope, and Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometer.

The facility started its operation on January 8, 2013. Sustaining its operation is a competent workforce capable of maintaining its equipment round-the-clock and accreditation for ISO 17025. The project will also help support the utilities required to maintain the class 100k certified clean room and equipment power requirements.

The second phase of the project was implemented with the main objective of establishing the startup operations of ADMATEL for the semiconductor and electronics manufacturing industries. In this project, the full operation of the laboratory as a service testing facility using industry samples was conducted. Industry immersion and advanced equipment training of technical staff were accomplished. The documents necessary for ISO 17025 accreditation were prepared and submitted for review to the ISO consultant.

The ADMATEL was inaugurated by President Benigno C. Aquino III on May 31, 2013. As of December 31, 2013, it has already serviced 44 companies and institutions.

ADMATEL has been well-received by the industry. Local companies have shown their support to the services of ADMATEL, not only from semiconductor and electronics, but also in other industries like plastic, oil, and energy. They found the testing facility very helpful in resolving their technical-related problems and in the characterization of their materials. In fact, the testing facility has been used in the DILG’s investigation of the explosion of Serendra condominium in Taguig City.

Here are some of the testimonials from the industry:

“We already discuss ADMATEL’s results to our team and we got the signal to proceed to localize this test.”

“It’s nicely done, thank you. I think we got what we wanted for this request.”

“We would like to express our appreciation for the assistance and we are looking forward to doing business with ADMATEL in the future.”

“Results we got are at par with the foreign laboratory.”
