Two of the top food manufacturers in Aklan, namely, Jocyl’s Food Products and Sunshine’s Breadmart, avail of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) consultancy program on Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point or HACCP.
The firms requested the HACCP consultancy in view of their expanding market and the need to further improve their food management system.
DOST-accredited consultant, Engr. Leopoldo C. Radan, Jr., together with DOST Aklan Provincial Director, Ms. Dyna Rose G. Tibubos, and DOST Aklan staff, Ms. Arian R. Silvestre recently conducted an initial assessment of the two firms. Among others, Engr. Radan discussed about developing a HACCP plan, HACCP certification and Food Safety System Certification 22000 during the initial assessment.
As part of the engagement, an orientation on Good Manufacturing Practices and a workshop on HACCP plan preparation will be conducted on the next visit.
