Food hazards are any unacceptable contamination that can either cause injury, illness or death. Through the Food Safety Program, food processors and food handlers will be aware of these food hazards as well as other important information about food safety.

Overall, the program assures the safety and quality of food products, prevents food-borne illnesses, promotes a responsible enterprise image and protects consumers. It involves the deployment of food safety experts to assist food processors on any of the following areas: compliance with requirements for FDA License to Operate; Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) study (one product type only); and improvement of food safety practices.
