
Dr. Juan S. Salcedo, Jr. is notable in the field of nutrition, public health, biochemistry and physiology. He has published 265 works and researches in the Philippines and foreign journals discussing medicine, science and technology inculcating the need for proper utilization of science and technology in the process of shaping the nation not only from the economic plane but also from a social perspective.
He was former Pres. Quirino’s Secretary of Health, chairman of the National Science Development Board (NSDB) from 1963 to 1970 and chairman of the National Research Council of the Philippines from 1961-1976.
Dr. Salcedo finished his medical degree at the University of the Philippines in 1929 and his master’s degree in Biochemistry at Columbia University in 1943.
