A series of Focus Group Discussions on Food Safety, Product Development, Manufacturing Productivity, Environmental Management, Quality Management System and Agricultural Productivity were conducted in Western Visayas to aid in the formulation of new technical consultancy manuals for SETUP 2.0. As part of the objectives under the SETUP 2.0 project, these new technical consultancy manuals to be developed will help standardize the implementation of the different consultancy programs not only in Western Visayas but in other regions as well.
The FGD for Food Safety and Product Development was conducted on February 24, 2020 in Iloilo City. It was spearheaded by food technologists from the UP-Diliman Food Innovation Center, Ms. Melissa Anne Siena and Ms. Abigail Rustia. The participants during the activity were former SETUP clients of DOST across the region.
On March 3, 2020, another FGD on Manufacturing Productivity, Environmental Management and Quality Management System was conducted in DOST VI Regional Office. The activity was led by Engr. Baby Lim, Engr. Andre Paolo Lim and Engr. Concordia Naldoza. It was attended by Program Technical Team (PTT) leaders and members of the DOST VI Science and Technology Services (STS) Section.
Moreover, on March 5-6, 2020 a series of key-informant interviews were conducted by Mr. Adonis Traje in Capiz and Iloilo. These interviews were participated by some farm owners and consultants who were previously engaged with Consultancy on Agricultural Productivity Enhancement (CAPE) Program of DOST VI.
An FGD on Machinery and Equipment Management to be handled by Engr. Remedios Cadaon was also set on March 23, 2020 in Iloilo City. However, due to the implementation of the region-wide community quarantine in Western Visayas as precautionary measure against the spread of COVID-19, the activity was postponed until further notice.
SETUP 2.0 is a new phase of implementation of the DOST flagship program, the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP), that helps micro, small and medium enterprises in their technological needs.
