Davao Beta Springs, Inc. (DBSI) was founded in June 1982 by Engr. Abraham N. Dizon who saw the potential of a machine shop business while innovating air rifle components in a family-owned sporting goods business. It offers an extensive array of products and services, from the engineering processes to metal finishing.

Initially, DBSI used the conventional lathe machine. Unfortunately, the machine was not able to cope with the volume of orders coming in especially with very high precision works. With this, they saw the need to improve its production facility to be more competitive especially with foreign players.

In 2013, DBSI sought the help of the Department of Science and Technology. Through the SETUP-Innovation System Support Fund, the firm was able to acquire a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Horizontal Lathe Machine. The CNC lathe machine was able to process four times more than the conventional ones. With the use of the new equipment, DBSI can accommodate more job orders and execute with speed and precision.

In the same year, the firm’s Quality Management System was certified under the ISO 9001:2008. The management was also able to participate in skills development and knowledge enhancement training and consultancy services such as skills trainings on fabrication of PhilMech-developed technologies, energy management and audit processes, and ISO 9001 certification consultancy service.

To date, DBSI has acquired more equipment such as CAD-CAM/CNC equipment, automatic lathes, turret lathes, milling machine, stamping machines, etc. These equipment can cater to general machine shop services and manufacture.
