As Western Visayas remains in General Community Quarantine (GCQ) during this CoViD-19 pandemic, DOST VI continues to provide science and technology (S&T) assistance to MSMEs through virtual trainings.

In May 28-29, 2020, two (2) virtual trainings were successfully conducted by Ms. Jhoanna N. Bolencis of the DOST VI Food Safety Program Technical Team. The first training was on Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) for the owner and four (4) production personnel of QB’s Solar-Powered Ice Cubes, a micro enterprise located in Patnongon, Antique. The second training on Food Safety was conducted for the production crew of MLKT in Iloilo City. Both trainings were conducted using the OneExpert’s newly installed Video Conferencing and Webinar feature powered by Jitsi Meet.

OneExpert is a one-stop portal to access Filipino S&T experts. During the GCQ, where social distancing and border control measures were being implemented, the enhanced portal made possible virtual engagements among experts and the requesting clients.

Carefully treading towards the ‘new normal’, DOST VI looks forward to facilitate more technology trainings as well as consultancy services under the DOST Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP).  These services are implemented to help boost the competitiveness of our local MSMEs through science, technology and innovation.
